2016 Distinguished Alumni and Friends of WPS Announced

The Worcester Educational Development Foundation, Inc. (WEDF) announces the 2016 Distinguished Alumni and Friends of the Worcester Public Schools. They are:

John Anderson, Educator and Civic Leader, North High School

Erica Ayisi, International Journalist, Burncoat High School

Amy Lynn Chase, Entrepreneur, Worcester Vocational High School

Edward “Ted” Coghlin (posthumously), Business & Education Leader, Classical High School

Robert Goddard (posthumously), Rocket Scientist, South High School

James Leary, Government & Civic Leader, Burncoat High School

Gail Randall, Non-Profit Enthusiast, North High School

Daniel Sedgwick, Musician & Educator, Burncoat High School

Eric Sedgwick, Musician, Burncoat High School

Marcy Supovitz, Business Leader, Burncoat High School

The banquet honoring these remarkable alumni will be held on November 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Hogan Campus Center at the College of the Holy Cross. According to Tom Murray, chairman of the committee, "Once again we have a class of distinguished alumni who represent a spectrum of careers but share the common history of having been educated in the Worcester Public Schools. Their success is an acknowledgement of the education that has been, and continues to be, provided by the dedicated teachers in the district."

The Worcester Educational Development Foundation, Inc. (WEDF) is entering its eleventh year of operation and was established for the sole purpose of supporting the Worcester Public Schools in the areas of arts and culture, health and wellness, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), and college and career readiness.
