The award is to “honor exemplary public servants who illustrate exceptional competence, enthusiastic performance, cooperative attitude, and community involvement”. The five recipients of the Thomas S. Green Award were chosen for their outstanding contributions to public service, representing 3 communities - Worcester, Auburn, and Holden. Our esteemed colleague, Ms. Cathy Flink-Harrison, was recognized last night for her 31 years of service to the Worcester Public Schools. Superintendent's Message

Excitement was in the air this morning as the newest elementary school-based library opened at Burncoat Preparatory School. The opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of the "One City, One Library" initiative, a private-public partnership focused on improving literacy skills city-wide. The branch includes all new books, iPads, computers, electronic literacy stations, a Smartboard, and plenty of comfortable seating. Public hours will begin today at 4 p.m. During the school year, the branch will be open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Additional hours will be added during the summer months. A special thank you to the Worcester Public Library, the City of Worcester, and community leader Patty Eppinger for their continued support in moving this initiative forward. Happy Reading!
