Veterinary Assisting at Worcester Technical High School is a 4-year program designed to prepare students for entry into the workforce as Approved Veterinary Assistants. The program utilizes both theory and clinical skill competencies for a well-rounded educational experience. Students have the opportunity to apply foundational skills learned in the classroom and gain clinical experience in the Tufts at Tech Community Veterinary Clinic during their Junior and Senior year.
This academically rigorous program is also designed to encourage students to seek other career paths in veterinary science, including Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, Veterinary and Research Medicine. The Veterinary Assisting program at WTHS is an Approved Veterinary Assistant (AVA) program, recognized by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA). Students earn the AVA designation in their senior year. In addition to their credentials, they learn employability skills at various veterinary establishments in the Worcester area.
