Guidelines and How to Enroll in Head Start

This page provides information on who is eligible to enroll in Head Start and how to apply.

Eligibility:

You are eligible to apply for your child if:

  • You live in the city of Worcester
  • Your child is 3 or 4 years of age (priority is given to four year olds)
  • Your family income falls within the Income Guidelines established by the Federal Government

How to Apply for Head Start

You must make an in-person appointment to begin the Head Start registration process.

To begin this process, you can fill out the following forms:

If you prefer not to fill out the form or speak a language other than English or Spanish, you can set up an appointment by calling 508-799-3225 or 508-799-3608. Appointments take between 30 – 45 minutes and you will need all of the information required for the option you are applying for at time of your appointment.

 

What Program Options do we provide?

Head Start provides programming during the following time slots:

  • 9:00 AM-12:30 PM
  • 9:00 AM-3:00 PM
  • 8:00 AM-4:00 PM

You qualify for the options of 9:00-12:30 and 9:00-3:00 if your family meets the income guidelines. (Limited transportation available)

You qualify for the 8:00-4:00 option if:

  • You are enrolled in school or working at least 20 hours a week and you meet the income guidelines.
  • If you are receiving Supplemental Social Security Income,
  • If you have a foster child or a child with disabilities, special consideration is given.
  • No transportation is provided

What do you need to bring to your appointment to register for our program?

When registering for our 9:00 AM-12:30 PM or 9:00 AM-3:00 PM  program options, you will need:

  • Your child’s Birth Certificate
  • Your child’s Health Insurance card
  • Your child’s most current Physical
  • Your and your child’s Social Security cards or Passports
  • Your proof of address (utility bill/rental lease)
  • Your proof of household income
  • Your Picture I.D.

When registering for our 8:00 AM-4:00 PM program option, you will need:

  • Your child’s Birth Certificate
  • Your child’s Health Insurance card
  • Your child’s most current Physical
  • Your and your child’s Social Security cards or Passports
  • Your proof of address (telephone, utility bill/rental lease) for both parents found on your child’s Birth Certificate
  • Your proof on household income (4 weeks or 2 weeks for those who are paid bi-weekly) or a copy of your most recent Income Tax Forms
  • Your School Verification (schedule and proof of payment)
  • Restraining Order information, if applicable
  • Your Picture I.D.
  • Guardianship Information, if applicable
