African American Literature: In the course, students will have an opportunity to explore the history and influence of African American Literature. Students will study the impact of this writing on the African American community and on American history. Texts will expose students to the journeys from slavery to freedom, and the continued fight for civil rights and social equality. As an honors level course, content will be covered at an accelerated pace. Students will study topics at a deeper level and will be expected to complete more independent coursework and assignments.
