Computer Science I: In this course, students will gain a foundation in computer programming. This course addresses computer technology (including hardware devices, programming languages, creation of applications, controls and add objects, property values, commenting, variables, constants and key words); program flow (including decision structures, random numbers, Boolean expressions, counters and check boxes); looping structures (including for and while loops, input boxes, string and character manipulation); mathematical and business functions (including formatting numeric output, list and combo boxes, trigonometric, logarithmic, exponential methods); and arrays and structures (including one and two-dimensional arrays, search algorithms, dynamic arrays, and enumerated types). Students will solve problems by writing programs and completing applications using structured programming techniques. As an honors-level course, content will be covered at an accelerated pace. Students will study topics at a deeper level and will be expected to complete more independent coursework and assignments.
