English II: In this course, students will study increasingly complex texts in a variety of genre in order to improve their reading comprehension, to determine the author’s intent and purpose and to recognize the techniques used by the author to deliver his or her message. Students will also learn about how to vary written expression according to purpose, topic and audience as they draft and edit logically organized arguments, informative/explanatory essays and narratives using relevant and specific evidence from texts. Students will work collaboratively on specified assignments and projects and will present their creative and analytical work in a variety of formats.
