Introduction to Technology and Engineering: In this course, students will gain and apply relevant safety knowledge, complete and discuss academic and career plans, and acquire appropriate academic content knowledge within a project-based environment. Students will use a problem-solving model to improve existing products and invent new ones and will explore the many career pathways offered within the engineering field including software, electrical, construction, communication systems, and robotics. Students will utilize sophisticated three-dimensional modeling software to communicate the details of the products. Students will acquire the skills necessary to analyze potential solutions and communicate ideas to others. Students will be assessed using proficiency standards in preparation for the attainment of a Certificate of Proficiency. (COP) This course is part of a Chapter 74 approved program and incorporates standards from the Engineering Technology Vocational Framework. As an honors level course, content will be covered at an accelerated pace. Students will study topics at a deeper level and will be expected to complete more independent coursework and assignments.
