Middle School Basketball and Winter Intramurals

The winter sports season will start in the beginning of December. This winter, Burncoat Middle School will be offering both basketball and intramural sports.

Basketball will take place from 2-3 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The season will begin with 3v3 games on all 6 of the middle school basketball courts. If the opportunity to participate in games against other schools or if there is an end of the year middle school tournament, students will be selected to participate based on the following criteria:

1. Behavior during winter season
2. Attendance
3. Skill and effort

Intramural sports will take place from 2-3 PM on Wednesdays and Fridays. The activities played are at the discretion of the intramurals coach. Activities generally include: basketball, kickball, capture the flag, amongst other activities.

Any student interested in participating in middle school basketball or intramural sports must have completed and returned an athletic participation permission form and must also have a current physical on file with the school nurse. Athletic permission forms are available during all lunches and in the main office. No student is allowed to try out for a sport without an updated physical [within the last 12 months] - there are NO exceptions to this rule. Permission forms and physicals can be dropped off at the main office in the “Athletic Forms” mailbox. Physicals may also be faxed to the school nurse at (508) 799-8342.
