Research shows that a community's level of civic engagement directly correlates with its quality of life. To do their part as effective citizens, one Burncoat Middle School STEM class conducted an evaluation of the Polar Park development taking place in Worcester right now. Students established a criteria for optimal urban design, concentrating on walkability, unique retail, and the availability of public spaces. Students built a scaled model of the stadium as well as the adjacent mixed-use development. They concluded the project by hosting media and operations officials from the Worcester Red Sox for an unveiling of the model as well as a Q&A session.
