Congratulations to the Burncoat High School Spirit Team, which ranked third in the country at a competition in Florida on Saturday, February 3.
Burncoat High School will be closed on Tuesday, December 12, because due to a lack of adequate heat in the building. Both the boys and girls basketball games are also canceled on Tuesday.
Twenty nine students in Worcester Public Schools — Burncoat, Doherty, and South high schools — have been recognized for their musical skills by the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) and invited to perform at the Central Massachusetts Senior Music Festival on January 13, 2024 at Mechanics Hall.
The following high schools with career technical education programs will hold open houses for eighth-grade students: Doherty, North, South, and Worcester Technical, beginning November 29.
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) has granted varsity status to the Worcester Public Schools’ (WPS) rugby team, the WPS Wildcats. The MIAA granted the team Division 2 status at its October 25 full board meeting.
Instructional Focus
At Burncoat High School, all students will experience a rigor based curriculum taught through instructional strategies meant to improve students’ reading comprehension and ability to respond thoughtfully as measured by MAP, MCAS, PSAT, SAT, ACCESS and AP scores as well as other formative and summative assessments.
