Twenty nine students in Worcester Public Schools — Burncoat, Doherty, and South high schools — have been recognized for their musical skills by the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) and invited to perform at the Central Massachusetts Senior Music Festival on January 13, 2024 at Mechanics Hall.
The following high schools with career technical education programs will hold open houses for eighth-grade students: Doherty, North, South, and Worcester Technical, beginning November 29.
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) has granted varsity status to the Worcester Public Schools’ (WPS) rugby team, the WPS Wildcats. The MIAA granted the team Division 2 status at its October 25 full board meeting.
The Pleasant Street Neighborhood Network Center is looking for youth ages 15-24 to participate in the Youth Advisory Council, a paid, six-month commitment to give Piedmont youth community a voice to speak about issues or ideas that concern them. Instructional Focus
A school-wide effort to have all WTHS students show measurable growth in their ability to write expertly across the curriculum for a variety of audiences through the implementation of a school-wide writing process as measured by MCAS (open response and long composition), PSAT and school wide writing portfolio rubrics and assessments(mid-terms, finals, common assessment, technical journaling and evident practice of close reading strategies).
