The Standing Committee on Finance and Operations met at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 in Room 410 at the Durkin Administration Building.

Response of the Administration to the request to provide an update on the School Facilities Master Plan, which was last updated in February 2012, to include renovation projects, accomplishments, long-term planning and savings reductions in energy costs.

Response of the Administration to the request to provide a listing by school of the recess equipment purchased by elementary principals.

Request that the Administration provide a report as to how the portion of the funds from Channel 11, earmarked for the Worcester Public Schools, are utilized indicating who oversees this budget.

To consider reestablishing the Doherty Satellite Middle School Program, modeled on the program in place for seventh and eighth grade students during 2000-2002, to inquire as to available sites for the program, including but not limited to St. Spyridon Orthodox Cathedral, and to invite the Worcester Education Collaborative to assist in the consideration process.

To review the level and consistency of enforcement of the following provision of the Policies Handbook for the Worcester Public Schools (Page 57): “[s]tudents must store all cell phones, book bags, gym bags and outerwear (coats and jackets) in their lockers during the school day.”

To discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the governmental body, to conduct strategy sessions in preparation for negotiations with nonunion personnel, to conduct collective bargaining sessions or contract negotiations with nonunion personnel.
