To recognize Meggan Mwangi, Chau Le, Skylar Stoll and Paris Jensen, on the awards they received at the Worcester Regional Science Fair for their projects on the Ozone and on the Students’ Knowledge of Environmental Change.

To recognize the students from Worcester East Middle School who competed and placed 32nd out of 76 teams in the VEX Robotics World Competition.

Response of the Administration to the request to provide a report as to what is or isn’t possible as we move forward with our summer program.

Response of the Administration to the request to provide the following information on the Temporary Learning Center (TLC) Program:-classroom accommodations
-enrollment
-actual spaces available
-age of students serviced
-waiting list and
-the process of enrollment

Response of the Administration to the request to provide a report on potential programs, by grade level, to be offered during the summer months.

To review with the City Council and the City Manager any opportunities for consolidation of services of the school department with those of the City, including, but not limited to, a possible merger of the Human Resources responsibilities and staffs of both entities.

To consider, with the City Council and the City Manager, development of a plan and arrangement for servicing of appropriate non-negotiations legal counsel needs of the school department by the Office of the City Solicitor.

Request that the School Committee forward letters of appreciation to the community partners for the 7th Annual Health Care Career Expo, which was held at the College of the Holy Cross on April 29th, that enabled over 700 students to speak with employees in the health care field to review career paths.

To forward a letter of recognition to Maureen Binienda, principal of South High Community School, and Robert Mahoney, an instructor at the Gerald Creamer Center, for their selection as recipients of the “Service Before Self” award of the Worcester Rotary Club.

Request that the Administration forward a letter of appreciation to the Arts Liaison to be shared with the staff members who assisted in the 58th Annual Arts Festival.

To accept a donation in the amount of $5,000 from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts to support the SHINE initiative.

To accept and acknowledge the donation of a scorer’s table for the Burncoat High School gymnasium with an approximate value of $2,500.

Request the Worcester City Council forward the FY15 city capital budget to the Worcester School Committee and administration upon receipt from the City Manager.

To congratulate the cast and crew of the Burncoat Middle and High Schools’ production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” for their three Theater at the Mount Youth Award (TAMY) nominations:

• Best Supporting Actress – AJ Teixeira
• Best Featured Ensemble – The Spellers
• Not your average chorus member – Nana Asamoah

To file a “home rule petition” to permit the award of civil service appointment status to provisional custodians of the Worcester Public Schools, in light of the absence of a state appointment examination for these positions.

To request a legal opinion as to whether a series of meetings scheduled between the Superintendent and individual School Committee members “to discuss the Budget in full” comply with the current provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law.

To congratulate Jack Foley on receiving the Orville Harrold Award for Community Leadership of the United Way of Central Massachusetts.

To discuss collective bargaining for Drivers and Monitors if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigation position of the School Committee.To discuss collective bargaining for Educational Secretaries if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigation position of the School Committee.To discuss collective bargaining for ESL Tutors if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigation position of the School Committee.

To discuss collective bargaining for Nurses if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigation position of the School Committee.

To discuss strategy with respect to litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and the chair so declares.
