The Standing Committee on Finance and Operations met at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in Room 410 at the Durkin Administration Building.

To consider approval of a prior fiscal year payment in the amount of $14,811.73 for services provided for a special education student at the Robert F. Kennedy Action Corps for the month of March 2014.

Request that the Administration provide an update on the filling of the position of principal for Worcester Technical High School.

Request that the Administration provide a listing by school of the recess equipment purchased by elementary principals.

To accept the Strategic Support Grant in the amount of $100,000 from the Massachusetts Department of Secondary and Elementary Education to enhance strategic support.

Pursuant to Rule 50 of the Rules of the School Committee, to schedule a public hearing “relative to the Minority Deisolation Plan … At the hearing, the School Committee will review the results concerning the implementation of the plan and will make the necessary changes in an effort to maintain the correct minority/ majority percent at each school.”

To consider an adjustment to the FY15 Budget

To approve an increase in the mileage reimbursement rate from $0.56 per mile to $0.575 per mile, effective January 1, 2015, for all non-represented and represented personnel in accordance with the 2015 standard mileage rate established by the Internal Revenue Service.

To recognize, with gratitude and appreciation, the exemplary service of Edwin B. (“Ted”) Coghlin, Jr. to the Worcester Public Schools, to the Worcester community, and to vocational technical education in general.

To discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining for Educational Secretaries, if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the collective bargaining position of the School Committee and the chair so declares.

Finding that an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining position of the School Committee, the committee votes to go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing Grievance #14/15-3.

To discuss strategy in preparation for contract negotiations with nonunion personnel and to conduct negotiations with nonunion personnel – Superintendent.
