To consider approval of the Worcester Public Schools’ Substance Use Prevention
and Abuse Education Policy.

To verify the compliance of the Worcester Public Schools with Chapter 71, Section
96 of the Massachusetts General Laws, which requires that “[e]ach public school
shall have a policy, regarding substance use prevention and the education of its
students about the dangers of substance abuse. The school shall notify the parents
or guardians of all students attending the school of the policy and shall post the
policy on the school’s website.”
PRIOR ACTION:
7-14-16 – Referred to the Administration.
BACKUP:
Annex A (4 pages) contains a copy of the proposed Worcester Public Schools’
Substance Use Prevention and Abuse Education Policy.
