Academic Center for Transition is located in the Burncoat Quadrant.
It is supervised by Executive Director Ellen Kelley.

The Academic Center for Transition is a public, highly structured, therapeutic day school with small classroom size, high staff to student ratio, and a school-wide positive therapeutic behavioral system. In addition to group and individualized academic instruction, students also receive clinical support, positive reinforcement, case management and crisis intervention. The school focuses on improving academic, social-emotional and coping skills within a safe, consistent, and positive teaching and learning environment.

Staffing

Lead Teacher

Supports teachers and staff in the planning and implementation of CORE content instruction. Supports teachers and staff in planning and implementation of PBIS and social-emotional learning.

School Adjustment Counselors

Provide case management, working with families and outside agencies to provide a more comprehensive approach to education.  Provide clinical support to students on an ongoing basis. Liaison between outside agencies and school.

Clinicians

Provide individual and small group services for students with social-emotional disabilities. Work with classroom teachers and staff to develop behavior intervention plans. Work with families and outside agencies to promote a more comprehensive approach to education.

Special Education Teachers/Specialists

Provide students with specialized instruction in CORE content, OT, PT, Speech,ELL and social-emotional learning.  Work with classroom support staff to provide a safe and welcoming classroom environment to promote high quality teaching and learning.

Instructional Assistants

Work closely with classroom teachers and clinicians to support students with academic and social-emotional learning.
