We are excited to celebrate the outstanding staff and students selected as WooStars for the month of November! Below, you will find the list of this month’s honorees, along with their photos and shared insights about their contributions from our school communities.
Please note: There was no WooStar selection for the week of November 25–29 due to the Thanksgiving holiday break. For a full list of WooStars for the 2024-25 academic year, visit the WooStars Archives webpage.
Do you know a WooStar? We are looking for students and staff who have gone above and beyond to feature on our social media channels.
Lindsay Prescott, Kindergarten Teacher at Gates Lane School of International Studies - Week of 11/18 to 11/22
“Both my boys were in Mrs. Prescott’s class far exceeded my expectations for development,” said a parent nominator. “Mrs. Prescott sees the individual needs of each student and works to strengthen their weaknesses. She is always available and goes above and beyond with the kids. She is also patient and kind, yet firm when she needs to be. She balances their social skills with their learning and my boys, especially my youngest, came in shy but graduated kindergarten a confident and social little man. Even though my sons have both graduated kindergarten, they continue to talk about Mrs. Prescott. The legacy she has left in their hearts will take them through both their lifetimes.”
Jerelys Robles, Fourth Grade Scholar at Jacob Hiatt Magnet School - Week of 11/11 to 11/15
“Jerelys is a leader in the Jacob Hiatt community who consistently observes and seeks out ways that she can be helpful to her teachers and peers. She takes initiative and shows kindness to everyone around her without being asked. Not only does Jerelys set a strong example as a role model throughout the school day, she applies herself with 100% effort in all subject areas. Jerelys is a true leader who makes our school and classroom a better place! I feel lucky to have her in my class this year.
Davin Forsberg, ABA Specialist at Nelson Place School - Week of 11/04 to 11/08
“We are proud to recognize Davin as a valued member of the Nelson Place community. His unwavering dedication, arriving every day with a smile and an uplifting attitude, speaks volumes about his commitment. Davin consistently supports the needs of our special needs population with unmatched patience, compassion, and care. Simply put, Davin is our rock star. His work ethic and positive demeanor are an inspiration to us all, and his presence makes a significant difference in the lives of those he serves. We are grateful to have him as part of our team and appreciate all he does to make Nelson Place a better, more inclusive community. Thank you, Davin, for your outstanding contributions and for being a shining example of what it means to truly care.”
Nicholas Lewis, 12th Grade Scholar at Burncoat High School - Week of 10/28 to 11/01
“Nick is a valued leader in the Worcester UNITES program. Over the last 2 years, he has grown as a leader, supporting younger students in their musical and personal growth and leading his peers with integrity and a positive attitude. Nick's patience and encouragement is evident when he is tutoring a student on the saxophone or conducting the ensemble. He is usually the first one to recognize if a student needs a little extra help or inspiration. Nick is creative and fun too! He performs in the BHS Spirit Team, the BHS Band and Symphony Orchestra. This year, we are pleased to announce that Nick is the 2025 Artistic Director for Worcester UNITES' 9th season! The UNITES mentors, Mr. Bokina, Ms. Nugent, Ms. Garcia and Mrs. Leach are so proud to nominate Nick as a WPS WooStar!”
