WORCESTER – Tuesday, September 12, 2023 – Members of the New England Patriots greeted cheering students at the Chandler Elementary School on Tuesday as the Patriots Foundation announced the school was selected for the Adopt a School Program. View photos on Facebook.
Students greeted Patriots players at a rally in the gym with red and blue pom-poms and hand-painted signs. Chandler Elementary is part of the Worcester Public Schools.
The Adopt a School program will expand access to educational opportunities and improve learning experiences for students. The foundation is working with the school to identify projects in health, wellness, and technology, which the foundation plans to fund.
At the event, the Patriots players and cheerleaders spoke to students about their experiences in school and the importance of education. They answered questions from students about what it takes to play in the NFL and who inspired them on their journey.
Throughout the school year, the Patriots Foundation will return to the school with other surprises and opportunities to support student learning.
Special guests included Patriots players Chris Board and Tyrone Wheatley Jr., cheerleaders Alexa Pillsbury and Taylor Yeley, public address announcer Mike Riley, and mascot Pat Patriot.
