WORCESTER – Tuesday, December 10, 2024 – Bay State Savings Bank continued a long tradition of giving and gratitude with a donation of furniture, equipment and other resources to 15 public schools in the City of Worcester.

Bay State’s contribution, valued at close to $50,000, notably impacted children at Tatnuck Magnet School, where new furnishings have helped transform their calm space and the student Kindness Club.

Dr. Rachel H. Monárrez, Worcester Public Schools (WPS) Superintendent, Seth A. Pitts, President & CEO of Bay State Savings Bank, and Brian E. Allen, WPS Deputy Superintendent, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer recently visited the Kindness Club together to see how the students were enjoying the recent updates. The feedback was clear with the students’ enthusiastic group response: “We LOVE it!”

Pitts, a WPS alum, who attended Tatnuck Magnet School and graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in 2006, is continuing to fulfill the Bank’s legacy of community impact as a local leader who is honored to pay it forward. “Small acts of kindness can make a big impact” Seth explains. "The students, teachers, and entire WPS teams play a major role in our communities’ future and we’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and provide support.”

Monárrez, the WPS Superintendent, said community partnerships are of great value for WPS.

“For Worcester Public Schools, every resource contributes to the success of our scholars and educators. We are grateful to Bay State Bank for their generous donation. This gift will directly enhance the learning environments in 15 of our schools, creating spaces where students can thrive and teachers can inspire. Partnerships like this reflect the strength of our community and its commitment to education. Thank you, Bay State Bank, for investing in the future of Worcester.”

This collaboration exemplifies how local businesses can play a vital role in fostering supportive educational environments, ensuring that Worcester and communities throughout Massachusetts remain nurturing grounds for future leaders.
