Dear Worcester Public Schools Families,

Worcester Public Schools (WPS) now uses ParentSquare to communicate with families and staff via email, text, app or phone. We will use ParentSquare for important notifications, such as snow day closures.

Please take a moment to learn how to download the app, control how often you receive notifications, and how to update your contact information.

Download the App

It is not required, but we encourage all parents/caregivers and staff to download the ParentSquare app via Apple Store or Google Play, or to log into ParentSquare.com. From there, you can adjust your notification settings to control how often you receive messages from your child’s school or WPS; step-by-step instructions.

How to Update Your Contact Information

Parents and caregivers: To update your email address or phone number, this has to be done in the WooEdu Parent Portal or by contacting the main office at your child’s school. You cannot update your information directly in ParentSquare.

Staff: Your contact information has to be updated in TeamOnline; it cannot be updated directly in ParentSquare.

Notification Settings and Emergency Alerts

If you are receiving too many messages from ParentSquare, we advise you to visit “Notification Settings,” then select “Digest.” Then, make sure “School Alerts” is selected as “On.” By doing this, you will receive all notifications at about 6:00 PM daily.

“School Alerts,” which are also called “Smart Alerts,” and are intended for important information. The most severe emergency alerts are called “Urgent Alerts,” which cannot be disabled.

You also have the option to select “Off” for notifications, but to keep “School Alerts” selected “On” so that you don’t miss important messages.

Instant, Digest, or Off

To review, you have three options on how to receive notifications:

  • Instant: Receive all messages instantly.

  • Digest: Receive all messages in one communication at 6 PM daily except Urgent Alerts and Attendance Notifications. (Must have “School Alerts” selected as “On” to receive those.)

  • Off: Receive no notifications except Urgent Alerts and Attendance Notifications. (Must have “School Alerts” selected as “On” to receive those.)

For more information, log into parentsquare.com and click “?” on desktop or “help” on the mobile app, then click “Help Articles” and search for “Notification Settings.” Or, visit the ParentSquare Notification Settings page on the WPS website.

You can also visit our website for families and staff.

Sincerely,

Dan O’Brien
