The Belmont Street Community School was recognized by the Worcester School Committee on Thursday, September 7, for implementing lessons to teach students about safety while walking or biking to school and in their neighborhoods.
The lessons were part of Safe Route to School, a free, federally-funded program that works to increase safe biking and walking initiatives for students.
Belmont Street School was one of 217 schools from Massachusetts to receive an award for its Safe Routes to School programming at the State House last spring.
