To Students Taking Doherty High Advanced Placement Exams:
Thank you again for your commitment to the Advanced Placement (AP) course(s) you are taking. Please read the information below carefully. If you have any questions, ask your teacher.
You should know if your exam is in the morning or afternoon, and you should know your location. Your teacher was provided this information. Please ask them for clarification if needed.
If your exam is in the morning:
You should arrive by 7:30 to the test site. There are additional pre-registration tasks (more bubbling in on your answer sheets, parking passes, cell phone collection, etc.) that needs to be completed.
The exam is designed to start at 8:00, meaning you actually open your exam and begin the timed sections. During the pre-registration tasks, (between 7:30 – 8:00), at some point the students will open their exam packets and look at the MC portion. You will not be allowed to enter if you arrive after this point in the pre-registration instructions. You are not refunded the exam cost if you arrive late.
The different exams have different lengths to them. You and your teacher should know the number of sections within each exam you are taking, and how long you have on each. If you factor in a 10 minute break, and about 10 minutes at the end to collect materials and get dismissed, you can estimate your approximate ending time. This, of course, is dependent on you starting at 8:00.
If your exam is in the afternoon:
You should arrive by 11:30 AM to the test site. There are additional pre-registration tasks (more bubbling in on your answer sheets, parking passes, cell phone collection, etc.) that needs to be completed.
The exam is designed to start at 12:00, meaning you actually open your exam and begin the timed sections. During the pre-registration tasks, (between 11:30 – 12:00), at some point the students will open their exam packets and look at the MC portion. You will not be allowed to enter if you arrive after this point in the pre-registration instructions. You are not refunded the exam cost if you arrive late.

For the purposes of work, athletics, extracurricular events, family commitments, etc., Mr. Staley recommends that you clear your afternoon until 4:00 p.m. to be safe.
Students taking an AP exam are on project for the entire day. You will not be marked absent for these days.
Cell phones and other electronic devices that can access the internet, among others, are prohibited. You will be asked to turn them off and place them in a designated area in the testing room.
If you are testing at WPI, you should plan to go to the Boynton Street parking lot (behind the library). The parking lot is situated between Highland St and Salisbury St. Students are encouraged to carpool as the parking lot can fill up easily. If you drive, you can get a parking pass from the proctor and then put this pass on your dashboard. If you have multiple exams, keep the pass.
Within each testing room, there will be one or more clocks visible. The clock(s) could be analog or digital. The proctor will post the start and end times on the board, and these will align with the displayed clock. If you cannot see a clock, ask your proctor as the class is completing the pre-registration tasks. The proctor may not yet have set it up, or perhaps you may need to move your seat.
What students should bring:
Several sharpened No. 2 pencils
Blue or black ink pens
Watch (analog or basic digital only)
Approved calculators (the respective teachers know which calculators are approved)
Ruler (Physics only)
What students should NOT bring:
Mechanical pencils
Electronic equipment (cell phone, smartwatch, tablet, iPad, etc.)
Scrap paper
Food
In the Test Room: As you arrive, expect the following to occur…
You will find a seat. There are seating patterns and requirements, so follow the directions of the proctor regarding seating.
There will be a table or location for your cell phones. Be sure they are powered off before turning it in.
There will be a table or location with additional testing supplies, such as pens, pencils, rulers, calculators (if applicable), and tissues. If you borrow any materials, be sure to return them (except the tissues).
You will collect your Student Labels and Multiple-Choice sheets.
The proctor will lead you through additional pre-registration tasks. You will have to complete additional bubbling in on your sheet, and will label portions of your exam. This has to be done prior to the posted start time of 8:00 or 12:00.
You will get an exam packet, sealed in plastic wrap. Do not open this until instructed to do so.
