AP: Frequently Asked Questions

When are the AP Exams?

The AP Exam calendar can be found on the CollegeBoard Exam Dates site. Students and families can find the date of each exam and determine if they are taking a morning or afternoon exam.

How much are the AP Exams?

Please visit the AP Forms page and download the AP Exam Fee form. Review this form to determine the amount owed per exam. Exam payments are due by the beginning of October to avoid a $40 late fee.

Where do I take the exam?

Exams are either administered on the WPI campus or at Doherty Memorial High School. In the spring, all students will be notified by their respective teacher and/or AP Coordinator as to their exam location.

Where can I find more information?

The CollegeBoard releases a Bulletin for AP Students and Parents. This provides information about exam security, college credit, getting prepared for exam day, and more. Students are provided a hard copy of this bulletin in the fall and are expected to read, understand, and comply with all information provided.

In addition, students can create an account with the CollegeBoard (needed to take the PSAT and SAT) and learn more about the AP Program and each exam. Get started here.

How can I earn college credit?

Each college has their own credit policy in regards to the AP Exam. The CollegeBoard has a Credit Search Tool where students can look at specific courses and specific colleges/universities.

As an example, review the QCC Course Credit policies. This lists a range of courses for which high school students can earn college credit as a result of a passing score (score of 3, 4 or 5) on the AP Exam.
