Worcester Public Schools held its 2025 annual tiered admissions lottery drawing for students applying to attend Chapter 74 career technical education (CTE) programs as ninth-grade students in the fall of 2025 (Class of 2029).

Admissions Lottery Results

·       Doherty Memorial High School (4 programs)

·       North High School (2 programs)

·       South High Community School (3 programs)

·       Worcester Technical High School (23 programs)

As has been the case for the past several years, there are extensive waiting lists for all Chapter 74 programs offered in Worcester Public Schools, including for admission into Worcester Technical High School. A small number of seats may become available as students change their decisions for next year, and periodically students and families will be notified if their lottery number is next in line for a seat that newly becomes available.

Chapter 74 Admissions Process

If an incoming ninth-grade student is interested in participating in a Chapter 74 CTE program at Doherty, North, or South high schools, they apply directly for the CTE program they desire.  Students are selected through a tiered lottery admissions process. If the student is accepted into the CTE program at Doherty, North, or South, then they are also accepted into the school hosting that program.

However, students interested in attending Worcester Technical High School apply through the lottery for general admission to the school. Once they begin attending, they participate in the Freshman Exploratory program to decide which CTE program will be their major at Worcester Tech for the next four years.
