Today’s automobiles are complex machines and servicing their complicated systems requires a thorough understanding of each system and how its components function.

An automotive service technician must have advanced skills in math, English, communications and electronics, as well as, the ability to diagnose complex problems. Worcester Tech’s Auto Technology program provides students with the basic skills and knowledge needed to become a successful entry level automotive technician.

Worcester Technical’s Auto Tech program combines academic instruction with live "hands on" work experience to prepare the student for entry level automotive technician positions. A strong curriculum is the foundation of this successful program.

We are a NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) certified automotive teaching program. The Automotive Technology program is also affiliated with the AYES (Automotive Youth Educational System) initiative. AYES serve in a liaison capacity while providing mentorships, apprenticeships and placement opportunities with dealerships and service providers.

All eligible students have the opportunity to participate in Cooperative Education and Internship experiences at a variety of approved learning sites across the city in their junior and/or senior year.  While the requirements and specific opportunities vary from school to school, and program to program, the structured combination of classroom based education and practical work experience provides students with the skills necessary to comfortably navigate the world of work.  Some of the internship and cooperative education opportunities students have experienced include the following partnership/s:
