Plumbing and Pipefitting
The plumbing and pipefitting department curriculum is a competency based program which is based on building blocks. The students learn to complete skills at their own ability level before moving on to the next task. The program is designed to be student friendly and matched to industry standards. Freshman and sophomores are trained in the shop environment. Juniors and seniors do more actual hands on work out in the field, while still working in the shop. The plumbing department works on outside projects such as Matthew 25, Habitat for Humanity, Worcester Youth Soccer and Heifer Project International. There is a cooperative education program in place for seniors and qualifying third quarter juniors. These students are placed with local shops at entry level positions. Students integrate between academic and technical areas on an ongoing basis.
