Welding and Metal Joining Technology offers an instructional area where students learn to become proficient in the skills and techniques needed to become licensed welders and fabricators. The welding department is dedicated to the advancement of science, technology, and application of welding and fabrication. The program provides training for a challenging career in the ever-expanding welding industry. The program of study is correlated between Related Theory and Shop. The program consists of six areas of study, safety, welding, fabricating, employability, entrepreneurship, and technology which are carefully arraigned in sequential steps. Students receive training in seven different welding disciplines and are counseled about the many career opportunities that are available. All instruction utilizes the latest in "state of the art" equipment. Safety is emphasized on a daily basis.

All eligible students have the opportunity to participate in Cooperative Education and Internship experiences at a variety of approved learning sites across the city in their junior and/or senior year. While the requirements and specific opportunities vary from school to school, and program to program, the structured combination of classroom based education and practical work experience provides students with the skills necessary to comfortably navigate the world of work.
