Letters Of Recommendation
What Do I Need a Letter of Recommendation For?
From your School Counselor:
Most of the 4-year colleges that will be applying to will require a letter of recommendation from your school counselor. Many programs and maybe even jobs will also need a letter of recommendation from your school counselor.
*In order for your school counselor to write your letter of recommendation, you will need to complete the Senior Questionnaire in the Google Classroom. Please give your counselor 2-3 weeks notice to write your letter of recommendation.
From Teachers:
In person or via email, you will need to ask two teachers for a letter of recommendation and then make the request in Naviance. These should be teachers from the core subjects (English, Math, History, Science, Foreign Language).
How to Request a Teacher Letter of Recommendation in Naviance:
Ask your teacher in person or via email at least 3 weeks before your application deadline
In Naviance, select the "Colleges" tab at the top of the page.
Scroll down to “Apply to Colleges” and select "Letters of Recommendation"
Click “Add Request”
Select the teacher from the drop down menu, choose “All current and future colleges you are interested in” and include a quick note to your teacher
Submit the request
Repeat steps #4 - 6 to add another teacher.
