Advanced Seminar: In the course students will look at and explore the social, religious, philosophical and academic impact culture and the arts has had on society. Using Novels, readings and research skills students would then link their learning to contemporary issues. As an honors level course, content will be covered at an accelerated pace. Students will study topics at a deeper level and will be expected to complete more independent coursework and assignments. This course is designed for students in the Hanover Insurance Academy of the Arts.

In this course students will deeply explore an academic topic, problem, or issue of individual interest. Through this exploration, students design, plan, and conduct a year-long research based investigation to address a research question. In the AP Research course, students deepen their skills acquired in the AP Seminar course by understanding research methodology; employing ethical research practices; and accessing, analyzing, and synthesizing information as they address a research question. Students explore their skill development, document their processes, and curate the artifacts of the development of their scholarly work in a portfolio. The course culminates in an academic paper of 4000–8000 words (accompanied by a performance or exhibition of product where applicable) and a presentation with an oral defense.

Advanced Placement Seminar: In this course students will investigate real world issues from multiple perspectives, gathering and analyzing information from various sources in order to develop credible and valid evidence based arguments. This course is one of two courses required for the AP Capstone Certificate. The AP Capstone Certificate is built on two courses, AP Seminar and AP Research, which are designed to compliment and enhance the in depth, discipline specific study experienced in other AP courses.
