Heard Street Discovery Academy was recently selected to receive an in-kind grant, valued at approximately $40,000, from Working for Worcester as part of the organization’s Year 13 Build Day efforts.

This in-kind grant will support improvements to the school's outdoor spaces, including the addition of a new playground, the painting of blacktop games, and the revitalization of the school’s front garden area.

“We are thrilled to receive this generous support from Working for Worcester,” said Heard Street Principal Cynthia Vaz Vail. “This grant not only benefits our community and neighborhood, but will provide an engaging environment where all students can play, learn, and grow. We are excited to see these improvements come to life thanks to Working for Worcester and its many volunteers.”

These schoolyard improvements will be carried out by local volunteers during the Working for Worcester Year 13 Build Day, scheduled for April 5, 2025.
