What Does It Mean?
Scholars who participate in the democratic process and are engaged in the betterment of their communities. They are informed and act on that information to advocate for themselves and others of different social, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
The Essence
At the heart of holistic education lies the development of the Engaged Community Member - a scholar prepared to contribute actively and positively to the democratic process, local communities and the global stage.
This disposition is not confined to the Social Studies classroom; it is a cross-disciplinary endeavors that can and should be integrated across all subject areas, from Math to Music, English to Engineering.
