City View Discovery School was recently selected for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s (MassDOT) 2024-2025 Signs and Lines Program. This program provides funding for infrastructure improvements designed to enhance safety and accessibility for students traveling to and from school.

The Signs and Lines Program, facilitated by MassDOT’s Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) Program, provides design services and up to $10,000 in construction funding for each selected winner for low-cost infrastructure projects around public schools. Eligible low-cost projects include signage and pavement markings on walking and biking routes.

City View is one of three schools in Massachusetts selected to receive this funding through MassDOT’s Signs and Lines Program.

“This grant will help us create safer routes for our students, making it easier and safer for them to get to school every day,” said City View Principal Erin Derr. “We are dedicated to the well-being of our students, and this initiative is an important step in ensuring their safety on their way to and from school.”

The program, which began accepting applications on September 4, 2024, and closed on October 4, 2024, is part of MassDOT’s ongoing commitment to improving pedestrian and bicycle safety across the Commonwealth. The improvements funded by the Signs and Lines Program must be completed by June 30, 2025.
