8th Grade Open Houses for Career Technical Education Programs

Dear Worcester Public Schools Families,

The Worcester Public Schools offers career technical education (CTE) high school programs at Worcester Technical High School, Doherty Memorial High School, North High School, and South High Community School.

All of these schools are holding open houses for current eighth-grade students.

The first two open houses will be held Wednesday, November 29, at Doherty Memorial High School and North High School.

We encourage students with an interest in hands-on learning in a career trade to visit an open house with their parents/caregivers to speak with teachers receive more information.

Wednesday, November 29:

  • North High School, 140 Harrington Way, 4:30 PM-6:00 PM: Open to 8th grade students. North High offers the following Chapter 74 CTE programs:

    • Health Science

    • Business Technology

    • Additional non-Chapter 74 programs: Early Childhood; Criminal Justice

 

  • Doherty Memorial High School, 299 Highland St., 6:30-8:00 PM: Open to 8th grade students. Doherty offers the following Chapter 74 CTE program:

    • Engineering and Technology

    • Construction and Craft Labor

    • Management, Marketing, and Finance

    • Programming and Web Development

 

Thursday, December 7:

  • Worcester Technical High School, 1 Officer Manny Familia Way, 6:00-8:00 PM: Open to 8th grade students. Worcester Tech offers 23 Chapter 74 CTE programs:

    • Advanced Manufacturing

    • Auto Collision

    • Auto Technology

    • Computer Aided Drafting

    • Robotics and Automation

    • Welding

    • Allied Health

    • Biotechnology

    • Environmental Technology

    • Veterinary Assisting

    • Cosmetology

    • Early Childhood

    • Carpentry

    • Electrical

    • HVAC/R

    • Interior Design and Decorating

    • Plumbing

    • Culinary Arts

    • Finance, Marketing, and Business Management

    • Hospitality Management

    • Information Support Services and Networking

    • Programming and Web Development

    • Graphic Communication

Tuesday, February 6:

  • South High Community School, 170 Apricot St., 6:00-7:30 PM: Open to 8th grade students. South High offers three Chapter 74 CTE programs:

    • Culinary Arts

    • Diesel Technology

    • Early Childhood
